Everyone at GenSet is made aware that their actions can have both a positive and negative impact on the company and the wider community. Our business ethics of integrity, teamwork, respect and innovation are the keystones of our organisation, enabling the company to be well-managed, responsible, ethical and equipped to address the challenges of global contemporary business.

Genset has the will and determination to become distinguished for the quality of our products, character and skills of our people, whilst expressing the sincerity we place upon our corporate and environmental responsibilities.

Therefore we have a statement that will enhance and maintain a positive impact as we work towards creating a more favourable and prosperous environment for us all.

The statement is split into two areas each of which is equally important to our sustainable development

  • Why we are here
  • Our Environmental Responsibilities.

Why We Are Here

The original company was formed in 1972. The mainstay of our company remains the supply of GenSet high-quality power generation equipment and professional engine driven welding machines, with GenSet continuing to be the sole UK and Ireland distributor of all GenSet manufactured products. GenSet is the undisputed market leader in the supply of this type of equipment to the expanding UK rental industry.

With the rise of major utility programmes being undertaken on the UK’s road and rail networks, the pressure to complete these contracts on time, in budget and with the minimum of inconvenience to the general public has become intense.

Combining expertise with our sister organisations – GenQuip and TowerLight – the group commands a truly global presence with agents, dealers and distributors on every major continent in the world.
Our Environmental Responsibilities

GenSet’s environmental responsibility start exactly where it should, in our offices, workshops and stores at our Headquarters in South Wales.

We recycle all of our waste, oil, fuel, cardboard and paper. Our aim is to be sending no waste to landfill by the end of 2010. Our administration staff print mainly on recycled paper, write with bio-degradable pens and every office has bins for the collection of waste plastic, glass and paper products.

In keeping with general environmental concerns about the use of oil-based paints, we have advanced plans to switch to a fully water-based paint process. The transfer to this type of paint is intended to limit the volatile organic compound (VOC) content of the paint. This has the effect of reducing emissions into the atmosphere and complying with the latest COSHH Regulations.

In 2008, we were successful in achieving the prestigious OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 accreditation. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out how to implement and manage an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) and OHSAS 18001 is globally recognised assessment specification for occupational health and safety management systems.

With a relatively low carbon footprint, our intention is to further increase our contribution to the environment by partnering with suppliers and customers to help them to reduce their own carbon footprint, with the introduction of environmentally advanced products.
